In this 2-day workshop, students learn the basic operating principles and functions for making photographs and developing black and white film with their analog cameras. On Day 1, you will learn the fundamentals of light and composition, how to create a properly exposed image, camera mechanics (including how to load a roll of film), and more. Students are expected to shoot 2 rolls of film before the second session of this workshop.
On Day 2, you will bring in your exposed roll(s) and learn the basics for developing your film. How do I load a film reel? What chemicals do I use and in what order? How does time and temperature affect the film? These questions and more will be answered in a hands-on darkroom experience.
35mm analog film camera required. Two rolls of film are included in the cost of the workshop. Maximum 6 students. No prior photographic experience necessary. Parental consent required for children under 18 years old (minimum age is 15).
